England U21 v Moldova

European Championship Qualifier 8pm, Tuesday 15 August Portman Road

Live on Sky Sports

England Under-21s will play their first game of the new season against Moldova in a European Championship qualifier at Ipswich Town's Portman Road on Tuesday 15 August.

Kick-off is at 8pm with live coverage on Sky Sports. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and can be purchased from the ticket hotline on 0870 111 0555 but as Dynamos are a Charter Standard club we are able to make a block booking for the game at a substantial discount to club members

England will then play Switzerland away on Wednesday 6 September, venue to be confirmed. Winning the three-team group will mean progressing to a two-leg play-off in October against one of the other 13 group winners. The eight-nation European Championship finals take place in June 2007 in the Netherlands. England have played Moldova twice previously at Under-21 level, both in UEFA qualification matches, winning 2-0 in Chisinau in 1996 and 1-0 in Wycombe the following year.

Ipswich hosted their first senior international on 20 August 2003, when 28,700 saw England beat Croatia 3-1.

They have had four U21 internationals - v Switzerland (1980), Romania (1985), Albania (1989) and Czech Republic (1998).

An U19 international with Germany, played at Portman Road on 14 February 2002, drew a record crowd for a home match at that level - 22,000.

If you are interested in going to the match please speak to your manager ASAP telling him how many tickets you want.

Nanny Jupp Competition Huge Success

With glorious weather and a massive turnout this years Nanny Jupp was a fantastic day for club celebrations. With four new teams being promoted to the 'A' League and trophies awarded to individual players who have been outstanding during the season the entire day was enjoyed by players, family and friends.

The beer tent was a welcome site and managed to supply cold beer and wine until the end of the day. Anne Millar also ran the kitchen with help from others and supplied hot and cold food that everyone enjoyed. The disability group sold cakes that had been hand made to raise funds for Dynamos and with a bouncy castle and face painting all the children had a fantastic time.

The England V Paraguay match was shown in the marquee and watch by a good crowd and the five a side competition was enjoyed by everyone including the disability group who formed a team against other club members. Chairman Tony Ashby said 'This is a great way for the club to come together and prove that we are there for the community and to allow children to all enjoy football'

Prizes were awarded by ex Mayor John Sayers and Michael Fitt the Parish Council's clerk who has been a solid supporter of Dynamos since the club took over the responsibility for Blackhouse Lane during 2002.

Dynamos Win Major Award

7th June 2006

Dynamos have been selected by Suffok FA as 'FA Charter Club of the Year'

The club was selected from other Charter Standard clubs in Suffolk to represent the County at the next round of the competition against winning clubs from other counties in the South East of England. If Dynamos win again they will  go forward to the National awards.

The award from Suffolk FA is great news for the club and recognition of all the hard work that everyone has undertaken to ensure that football is enjoyed by everyone in our community.

The presentation day is relaxed and a great way for the entire club and their families to celebrate youth football and every players achievements over the last season. PS... Hope you don't mind but to raise funds for the club we would ask that you contribute £2.00 when entering the marquee for the presentation....

Dynamos Secures New Sponsorship Deal for 4 Years

23rd May 2006

The body of the shirt has inlaid micro mesh panels to the sides, under the arms and to the back of the shirt which allows the skin to breathe. The collar also features the same inlaid micro mesh fabric as on the body of the shirt creating a unique finish and style. The micro mesh across the shoulder and arms allows the heat and moisture to escape. This allows comfort and flexability throughout the game.

Each shirt will be numbered in silver by the manufacturers and forwarded to the club in good time for next season.

This kit has been tested all season by the Under 13's and has passed with flying colours. The shorts are designed for comfort and flexability and the extra thick waisteband ensure that the shorts hang neatly. Inlaid piping to the sides and micro mesh sides and lining matches the shirt perfectly. Socks will be black with a red hoop at the top.

                                                                             Stripe_red_black.gif

Dynamos have secured a new kit deal with Persimmon Homes who will now provide the entire club with new kit for the 2006-07 season. This is the first time that Dynamos have been prepared to have sponsor's details on their shirts but it is in keeping with the clubs belief that it is not pepared to allow individual teams to be sponsored.

The whole club will benefit from this deal and it can also be revealed that Persimmon were approached by other larger football clubs but have chosen Dynamos for their involvement and clear evidence that they are involved with the local community.

It is hoped that Mr Alan Hadman Managing Director of Persimmon Homes (Anglia) will present the cheque to the club on Nanny Jupp/Presentation Day on the 10th June 2006.

Dynamos Drop 'AFC' from Name

19th May 2006

AFC Cornard Dynamos will be dropping the AFC at the start of their name because it is no longer required. Affilliated Football Club was incorporated onto the Dynamos name when they were linked to AFC Sudbury but as Dynamos have increased in size the club will simply be known as 'Cornard Dynamos FC'

Chairman Tony Ashby said, 'We have had no involvement with AFC Sudbury for a number of years now. Our club is stronger than it has ever been and we are able to look forward to the future as 'Cornard Dynamos' for many years to come. The club has gone full cycle and returned to its roots'

It appears that AFC Sudbury are now starting their own youth section and have not been in contact with Dynamos for over three years.

Referees Course Wednesday 5th April 2006

31st March 2006

A referees course is being held at AFC Cornard Dynamos on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm with the Suffolk Referees Association.

If you would like to consider becoming a referee, you need to be able to answer "yes" to the following questions:
1. Are you at least 14 years of age?
2. Are you reasonably fit?
3. Is your eyesight O. K.? (with spectacles or contact lenses if worn)

If you are able to answer "yes" to all of those questions you are eligible to become a qualified referee.

Most courses last for around nine evenings, including two examinations.

- Usually one or two evenings per week
- Classroom-based
- Free tuition and examination, small fee for registering as a referee with the County F.A.
- Qualified to referee in local matches (Youth football if under 16) when you pass the examination

At Dynamos we are very keen for our older players to become qualified referees and provide best practice to our younger teams that will learn football and also respect for match officials that will remain with them through their playing career.

U 8's U 9's and U 10's earn £8.00 per match

U 11's and U 12's earn £14 per match

U 13's and U 14's earn £16 per match

U 15's and above earn £18 per match

I know that it is short notice but each evening session will last just over 1 hour and later the course is moved outside with practical exercises and problem solving. You can register by contacting Andy Millar either by phone  (see contacts page) or the e mail facility at the bottom of this page.

Ipswich & Suffolk Youth Football League

The Facts!

30th March 2006

At a recent committee meeting, it was decided that some Dynamos teams should enter the Ipswich & Suffolk Youth League next season. Dynamos currently play all their football within the Colchester & District Youth League  in Essex and includes clubs from Colchester, Clacton and some other Suffolk based clubs such as Long Melford and Boxford.

The League is strong and well supported and have various cup competitions involving league members and also the Open Cup that allows teams outside the League to compete.

AFC Cornard Dynamos is now getting larger and has very strong associations with Great Cornard Parish Council, Babergh District Council and Suffolk County Council. We are involved with disability football and the 'Be Active' scheme, have coaches that run the Ipswich Town FC development centre at Bury St Edmunds, provide additional coaching with Ipswich Town through our association with Steve Greaves EUFA 'A' coach and have very strong links with the Suffolk FA. We are also the only club that provides specialist goalkeeper coaching with Dean Greygoose and make this avaiklable to other clubs in the area.

The point is this, if the club is so involved within Suffolk why are we playing football in Essex?

As some of you know we are under consideration for the FA Charter Award that would not have been possible without the help of the Suffolk FA. We have been in receipt of funding from Suffolk Acre who awarded the club over £3000 during 2004 for the purchase of new football equipment. Great Cornard Parish Council have also invested in our future and ensured that we had funds to renovate the pavilion and update the toilets and facilities that are enjoyed by all our members and a constant source of envy by visiting teams.

After the January meeting, managers were asked to discuss these points with members and parents and the subject was then further discussed at the February committee meeting and this has been decided:-

Every new team (under 8's) will now join the Ipswich & Suffolk League.

Next seasons Under 9's (Blues & Reds) Under 14's and Under 15's Reds will also enter the Ipswich & Suffolk league.

These teams will then participate in this league and be able to apraise the benefits and pitfalls that they have experienced before deciding whether the entire club enters the Ipswich & Suffolk League for the following season. Make no mistake, this is not a weaker league that will fail to challange our teams. Football is of a very high standard and each team that plays either in the league or in the various cup competitions will be tested fully.

This is a very important decision that is being made for the benefit of the CLUB and not an individual team. We have to decide now what is going to be best for our members in five years time and beyond. The Committee all agree that the future of this club is within the Ipswich & Suffolk League but have taken a measured approach before placing al our eggs in one basket.

Girls Football

Another reason to move leagues concerns girls football. As Dynamos grows we have decided to provide girls only teams. You know that girls are more than welcome to play in our sides but are unable to do so from Under 12's upwards. We will begin recruiting new members for a girls Under 12's very soon and they also will play in the Suffolk League and have the same membership privileges enjoyed by everyone else at our club.

The future of Dynamos is being cemented as we speak. A lease for our clubhouse and grounds making sure that Blackhouse Lane is controlled by Dynamos until 2029 is about to be signed. Our membership has grown  to over double the numbers of 2003 and is increasing. This has been achieved by constantly looking forward and anticipating correctly what is best for our members.

Over the last few years Dynamos has become stronger and larger than ever before. This has not gone unnoticed by those who have an interest both with youth football and our club. We now feel that we are in a strong posistion to apply for the Standard Charter Award presented by the FA to clubs that are following the ideals held by the FA.

The Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people. As a benchmark for quality, it will improve the playing experience for all.

The FA Charter Standard Clubs programme, supported by FA Community Partner McDonald's, was launched in February 2001 and is a core component of The FA Football Development programme

The project is aimed at boys and girls under sixteen years old and will help children and parents find a club in their local area that meets FA standards.

The FA, in conjunction with various bodies, has drawn up the following set of criteria for clubs wishing to reach Charter Standard:

Your Questions Answered

Q Can any club apply?

A Yes, any club which operates teams at Under 16 level and below.

Q Our Club only has 1 team; does that matter?

A Even a club with only one team can apply to become a Charter Standard Club.

Q Is there a charge?

A No, the Charter Standard programme is free.

Q Is it difficult to achieve?

A Any award, worth having, does require an element of work. However, particularly for the Club award, the criteria has been set so it is attainable for every club.

Q What are the benefits?

A The "visible" benefits are listed in the brochure. But it's the "hidden" benefits that should be of most importance to your club.

Q So what are these hidden benefits?

A By achieving a Charter Standard Award, you are demonstrating to all members, Parents and the public, that you are a well organized & safe club. The 'hidden' benefits are also an excellent way of promoting your club to potential members, parents, volunteers and sponsors.

Q How do we apply and what happens to our application?

A 1. Clubs must complete an application form and return it to the County Football Association with the requested supporting evidence.

2. Screening forms must be enclosed and sealed in the envelope provided and returned to The Football Association.

3. The Football Association will formally screen the self-certification forms submitted.

4. The application will be assessed by the County Football Association nominated officer with recommendations to the Charter Standard Working Party.

5. The Charter Standard Committee will complete a feedback form on each application, which will include an Action Plan and a recommendation.

6. If the club meets the criteria, the County Football Association will forward the Feed Back Sheet to The Football Association for awarding.

7. If the club does not meet the criteria, the County will inform the Club and provide an action plan and assistance sheets.

8. The Football Association will:

Write to the club awarding the Charter Standard, including a copy of the feedback form and action plan.

9. The Football Association and the County Football Association will keep a copy of the feedback form and action plan.

Q How long does the award last?

A 1. The Charter Standard is an award for three years.

2. Clubs must complete and return a "Renewal Form" every year that the Charter Standard is valid (within 30 days of receipt).

3. At the end of three years, the club can apply for renewal.

Q Can the award be withdrawn by The FA?

A Yes. After due consideration, and the club has had the opportunity to meet with the Charter Standard Working Party, the Charter Standard Working Party can request that a Club has it's Charter Standard removed for the following reasons:-

a) Disciplinary Record

b) Failure to Attend In-Service Training

c) Failure to return annual form

A Club can re-apply when it can demonstrate that it has responded positively to the reason(s) for withdrawal.

Q What are the Disciplinary reasons why a Club could lose, or not be awarded Charter Standard?

A The Charter Standard Working Party will consider the following criteria when assessing new applications or the removal of Charter Standard.

1. Any Club found guilty of assault on a referee or assistant, by a player, official or spectator in the last three years will not be considered for the awards. Any subsequent offence would lead to the withdrawal of the award.

2. Any Club not found to be positively supporting The Football Association's anti-racism campaign will lose or will not be awarded Charter Standard.

3. Any Club found guilty of spectator misconduct on two occasions by The Football Association will be invited to meet with the Charter Standard Committee who have the authority to issue a formal warning, which could lead to removal on further notice.

4. Any club found guilty of official misconduct on two occasions by The Football Association will be invited to meet with the Charter Standard Committee who have the authority to issue a formal warning, which could lead to removal on further notice.

5. Any club that reaches * disciplinary points (as described in County F.A. Memorandum), will be invited to meet with the Charter Standard Committee, who will have the authority to warn as to future conduct or request that The Football Association remove the Charter Standard Award.

6. If any one team reach * disciplinary points (as described in County FA Memorandum), will be invited to meet with the Charter Standard Committee, who will have the authority to warn as to future conduct, or request that The Football Association remove the Charter Standard from the whole club.

* At present each county sets its own points level, after which time clubs are in breach of County FA memorandum

Girls Football At Dynamos for 2006

Suffolk FA have requested that AFC Cornard Dynamos become involved with girls football and allow their facilities to accomodate teams that would compete against other girls teams during 2006. Dynamos have now made provision to allow this to happen and invite girls from the local area to join Dynamos and participate in all the activities that are available to the clubs existing teams.

As a result, Dynamos have had to further expand and have recently negotiated the use of further pitches so that matches can be played for an estimated membership of 250 players next year.

Dynamos are now activly seeking applications from girls who wish to play and suitable coaches and managers to join the club and assist with girls football next season. Training sessions and coaching programmes will be allocated allowing girls football to be part of the facilities that are offered by the club.

Changing rooms, Dynamos kit, and league registration will all be available for the new teams and if any person wishes to be considered for inclussion in running or coaching teams it is requested that they contact the chairman or vice chairman so that CRB checks and  coaching qualifications can be verified.

Dynamos have a strict child protection policy that must be satisfied before any individual can be considered for this position but are happy to assist those requiring coaching qualifications to achieve them. Details of Tony Ashby (chairman) and Andy Millar (vice chairman) are available on the 'contacts' page or by clicking on the links above.

Sudden Death of Manager Paul Bates

25th November 2005

It is with much sadness that Dynamos heard about the sudden death yesterday of Paul Bates (39) who was manager for the Under 14's Reds.

Paul had been involved with Dynamos since he was a young boy and his father was a coach.

As a result of this terrible news and as a mark of respect, it has been decided to cancel normal training for the team on Friday night and the matches that were due to be played on Sunday 27th  against Boadicea Dynamos (home) and the following Sunday against Harwich and Parkestone (away)

Further details of this terrible news and funeral arrangements will be notified when confirmed.

TESCO SPORT VOUCHERS Update

December 2005

Congratulations everyone..... We have now collected OVER 13,000 vouchers and the new equipment will be ordered ASAP. A great effort by all the players, parents and supporters.

MATCH REPORTERS PLEASE

15th November 2005

Seen something really good by your team when they have played recently?

Have you witnessed a great piece of play or an outstanding goal by an individual player?

We have developed 'match reports' so that they will remain on the website for as long as Dynamos continues, and after almost 34 years I think we are going to be here for a long time. Players who are now young children will be able to re visit the games that they took part in for years to come and it will always be a record of what happened on the day.

We also want photographs. With digital technology it has never been easier.

Photographs of teams and players or anything to do with the club can also be recorded on YOUR website and be maintained as a historical record for years into the future. If you are a parent you might have played for Dynamos in the past and it would be fantastic to take a trip down memory lane with your own children and grandchildren in the future.

If we have a good response to this appeal we want to present a trophy at the end of the season for the best match report either by a parent or a team member. Send all your reports via the e mail on the contact page on this site or just click on the link.

Think about the future. Lets keep a record of all the achievements on the pitch by the players. Remember, if you don't do it no one else will ever know

13/11/05                                            TESCO SPORT VOUCHERS Update

A huge thankyou to everyone that is helping with the collection of vouchers. On the 13th November we had over 8000 of the little green pieces of paper that will allow us to get training equipment for the club. It also means that you have spent over £80,000 in that supermarket over the last few weeks!

Keep the collection going and we will post details of the final figure and what we are allowed to claim as soon as we have the details.

24/09/05                                            TROPHY PRESENTED TO U13's

The Under 13's have had a magnificent bronze and porcelain trophy presented to them by Mr and Mrs O'Connell who have supported the team since they began playing as Under 8's. Kevin and Lyne watch every home and away match and Kevin has recently joined the committee to assist with running the club.

Kevin and Lyne said 'We wanted to give a trophy to the team that was not just for football but for commitment and attitude at training and representing the club both at home and away matches. As soon as we saw it we knew that it expressed our feelings both to the team and Dynamos'

It has been decided to award the trophy to the 'Player of the Month' and was shown to the team at training last night. On behalf of the boys and Dynamos we would like to thank Kevin and Lyne for their very generous gesture.

17th February 2005

In the past our floodlights could only be used when Cornard United were not using there own. This was because of the electrical wiring that was installed so long ago that prohibited both sets of lights being on at the same time.

This has now been rectified and the wiring upgraded and changed so that both sets of lights can be on together. This unseen improvement to our club allows us to train throughout the week and not be restricted to the Wednesday night that has traditionally been for Dynamos.

Any team that wishes to train throughout the week please speak to the fixtures secretary to avoid congestion.

PRESENTATION DAY and ROCK CONCERT 4th JUNE 2005

AFC Cornard Dynamos has over the last two years been involved in progressive improvements to their facilities and in lobbying the Parish Council to repair the car park at Blackhouse Lane. As a result we have some of the best facilities for youth football within Essex and Suffolk .

As predicted, membership has grown and a pride and sense of ownership is now evident between our two hundred members and their parents.

‘Presentation Night’ used to take place at the Delphi Sports Club but catering for our youngest and oldest members under one roof was always difficult and an alternative format was required. We have negotiated with the Council and now lease the pavilion and pitches at Blackhouse Lane giving us control of the grounds.

Proposals

‘Presentation Night’ will now take place on 4th June 2005 but start at 1pm in the afternoon at Blackhouse Lane. A marquee will be erected on the football pitches and will have seating so that each age group is called to receive their trophies.

The atmosphere will be relaxed and typical of a family fun day with entertainment for the children, a beer tent and barbecue operating throughout the afternoon. Parents will be encouraged to treat the afternoon as a picnic. Members of the club are asked to wear their famous red & black club 'home' shirts.

Rock Concert in the Evening

We plan to have a rock concert in the evening headed by The  Robbie Gladwell  Band. Robbie is one of the finest guitarists in the country who will be joined with some very special and famous guests on the night.

The organisation of this event is being co-ordinated by committee members and has already met with approval from the local council. It is hoped that the event will attract over two thousand people.

Logistics

A stage will be placed in the car park and lighting and sound will be under the control of a professional concert events engineer familiar with such events. The public will be located on the football pitches controlled by AFC Cornard Dynamos. Parking for visitors will be available.

Event marshals will be provided for parking coordination and ticket sales on the day. St Johns Ambulance will also be in attendance located next to the pavilion in Blackhouse Lane .

Additional portable toilets will be located within the same car park. The main event will start at 7.30pm and finish at 10pm so as to minimize noise and light pollution to local residents. We do intend to communicate with all local residents and inform them of this event and invite them as guests if they wish to attend.

Suffolk Police will assist with traffic movement before and after the event and we will be requesting that Blackhouse Lane be closed at both ends at the appropriate times. This is a family concert but those artists taking part are of the highest calibre and have a fantastic following in the local area.

Conclusion

The event is being staged to raise funds for our football club. We have found that by taking a responsible attitude with the local authority and involving them in our plans at an early stage has reaped many rewards and also allowed us to draw on valuable experience that they can offer.

AFC Cornard Dynamos involves itself with children in the local area and provides an important focal point that instils pride and a sense of belonging that we hope will remain with them into their adult years.

No event of this type has taken place in the Cornard area before and early consultation and thorough planning will ensure that its success is guaranteed. so as to provide a happy and safe environment on the night.

Volunteers

This event requires the assistance of many people on the night. We are looking for assistance with Marshals, Car Parking, Ticket Sales and Local advertising. If you want to get involved call Andy Millar on 01787 310655 or 07855 259412.

9th January 2005

Lord Phillips of Sudbury has agreed to become patron of AFC Cornard Dynamo's. He has watched with interest how the club has grown and made a donation to assist with the renovation of the clubhouse during 2004.

Lord Phillips was responsible for the introduction of the Community Amateur Sports Club Scheme that allows clubs suc as ours to recover tax on contributions and gifts made to them from fundraising and other events.

AFC Cornard Dynamos joined this scheme last year. A keen sportsman and involved with local people of Sudbury all his life, it is a great honour to have Lord Phillips involved with our club.

_________________________________________________________________

9th January 2005

After a successful 2004, Cornard Dynamo's can look forward to 2005 with solid foundations in place.

With all age groups strongly supported and a fully functional clubhouse, all new equipment and a twenty five year lease on the ground, Dynamos can consider themselves one of the largest clubs in the community supporting children of all ages. Our under 8s in their first season have started well, going into the winter break in fourth place, closely behind Long Melford. Both teams play each other in the new year in the cup.

With two under 9 teams, Ian Woodhead has continued to grow his teams from strength to strength. With both teams sitting mid table in their league but both teams will continue to pick up points through to the end of the season in May.

Richard Wingfield and Jason Cade set up two teams this season at under 10s. In their last season of seven a side fotball before adventuring into eleven a side, both teams are in strong positions in their individual leagues.  Daniel Smith and William Wingfield are both continuing to enjoy their involvement with Ipswich Town FC Development Centre.

In their first season of eleven a side football Robert Simms’ Under 11s are battling well in their league, holding sixth place and scoring goals most weeks.  After a struggling first season, Dynamo’s Under 12s are having a more eventful season scoring 29 goals in the last four games through to the end of 2004 and only conceding 3, playing like a team looking for promotion back into the A league.

The Under13s have two teams for the fist time in the clubs history. Firstly their Blue team are currently fourth in the league, just behind the leaders, and are also the only Dynamo’s team still in both the League and Open Cup. The Reds in their first season are currently third in the league, a great achievement as many of the players have not played before.

Our under 15s are also having a good season , and were top just before Christmas, playing some good attacking football under the direction of Adie Walker and John Colgate, who has kindly given up his time to help Adie through the season.Cornard under 16s are sitting mid table in the league but do have many games hand, so could see themselves in the top two before long. We have also agreed with the under 16s to support them next year as under 18s, again something new for the club.

Finally, we already have next seasons under 8s together, with thirteen players currently registered. Andy Millar has agreed to manage this team next season, and looking forward to working with our younger generation all over again. We also have players who are currently Under sixes, and are looking at building this squad through 2005. If your son or daughter wish to come along and train in a safe environment, and are between the ages of 5 years and 6 years please come along on Saturdays between 12noon and 1pm or call Tony on 07766476807 for more details.

I would like to finally thank everyone who sold, bought tickets or organised the Christmas raffle, which raised over £600 for the club. Hopefully the eight hamper prize winners all enjoyed their extra gift from Cornard Dynamos.

 Tony Ashby - Chairman

12th December 2004

As Christmas approaches our younger teams from Under 7 up to Under 10's, have a winter break. Next Sunday (19th) will be the end of league games until 6th February 2005. The older teams ( Under 11's upwards) continue their league campaigns on 9th January 2005.

This does not stop your team from having friendly matches during that period. To avoid pitch congestion please book these games through the fixture secretary who will also try to arrange a referee on the day.

The kitchen will be closed from 19th December 2004 until 9th January 2005.

Details of 2005 fixtures will be available on this web site and also on the telephone hot line as before.

Training during the break is a matter for each individual manager and will be notified to each age group accordingly.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

November 14th 2004

During November we have continued to go from strength to strength with all age groups from under 7s to under 16s having healthy squads to choose from. Dynamos have also strengthened their ties with Ipswich Town . During this month all the younger age groups have been invited into the training grounds at Playford Road to play in the 'Dome' against Ipswich town Elite teams. This should be a great experience for all the players to use the same facilities as the professional squad and be seen by all the local scouts searching for the next Darren Ambrose.

At our home ground at Blackhouse Lane we have continued to provide excellent equipment and facilities  with two new sets of full size and mini goals, speed ladders, training spikes , footballs , cones and  training bibs meaning all squads can benefit on training and match days.

Shaun Bates who currently runs our under 8s squad  is also going out of his way to promote football locally  by supporting Woodhall Primary school with weekly training sessions . Shaun has also enticed his father Ken to become a helping hand once again at the club. Ken was an influential figure at the club in the late seventies and early eighties and its great to see him once again putting on his boots and teaching young children how to play football.

New arrival at the club Gary Leeder has started well building a team from nothing during the summer now sees his team lying third in the league and still improving week after week. Gary has also got support from Paul Bates who was also a player at the club many years ago.

The club has many people involved today who were once themselves youth players at the club such as Nick Guyon, Tony Ashby, Robert Sims and  John Baldwin as well as the persons mentioned earlier. Many parents who  also played at the club are now supporting their children demonstrating that this is a community club with strong bonds to its past and is also able to look at the future with confidence.

26th September 2004

During the month of September many things have once again happened at Cornard Dynamos. We have 147 players registered at the club ( all time record), we have handed our past kit over to the deaf children of Romania, sponsored walked for new goals , relaunched  our website and the season started with three new teams at the club.

Firstly it is great to see our past kit , which is in excellent condition finally find a home for children who are in real need of our support and do not necessarily have the same benefits that children at Dynamos have. I hope they all have as much success as we had, wearing proudly the colours of Sudbury Town FC.
Our recent sponsored walk was again a great success, with over £1000 being raised . Over fifty people took part ,walking between Sudbury and Rodbridge corner and back. A special mention must go out to  Alison and Dave Float who helped to raise over £200 for the club walking the distance in about one hour.

Through the hard work of Andy Millar our website (www.afccornarddynamos.co.uk) was relaunched with many new features including , weekly match reports , links to our sponsors, weekly photos from home matches, links to Ipswich town football club . Currently we have had 9000 hits during our first season and hopefully this year even more people will see all the great work going on at dynamos through the website.

We are now three weeks into our new season and our first success must go out to Ian Woodhead and our under 9s reds. Young Joshua Barnes scored Dynamos reds first goal in now their second season and earned the team their first points since being formed in 2003. Many onlookers thought this was the winning goal in a cup final as the crowd of parents and supporters went wild in the terraces.

Gary Leader who manages our newly formed under 13s reds , was over the moon to have 18 players to choose from every week , with some experienced players in his team like Mehmet Zorba, Tim Pope and Jack Warren who all played for the Blues last year is hoping for a good first year in youth football. Last week they picked up their first points against Law with Mehmet Zorba scoring Cornards only goal.

Under 13s reds have started strongly this year winning all of their matches in September , making them one of only two teams currently on maximum points , along with last years champions Clacton Town.
Adie Walkers under 15s have also started well , winning two of their three opening games and with the welcome return of Darren Smith who broke his arm at the Dynamos five a side in July , things should look good as they go into October. Cornard player Nick Guyon who is activily helping with coaching of the under 16s,supporting new manager Kevin Oliver has seen the squad improve during the pre season and have again started well this year with 18 players to choose from , all wanting to play every week.

Our under 12s , under the guidance of Derek Tomkinson have started well in the league winning two of their first three games , playing attacking football , creating many chances week after week. During the pre season they won the Stanway villa pre season tournament to give their confidence the boost it needed. Andy Millar who coaches the under 12s recently commented on how his young players have worked hard through the summer and have shown great creativity when going forward.

This season Dynamos have seen seven player join the Ipswich Town development centre , all looking at advancing into the Academy and who knows maybe one day a new Ipswich Town Superstar in the making.

Dynamos charge into bright new season
14th September 2004

As we start our new season for 2004, it has been good to see Cornard Dynamos grow in numbers during the summer.

This time last season we started with 90 children registered with the club, and this year we have grown to 145 registered players with three new squads. For the first time in the club's history we now have an under-7s squad, with 16 players aged between five and six years enjoying coaching every Saturday.
We have also extended our under-10s squad to two sides, with Jason Cade running the second squad along with Richard Wingfield.

Also for the first time we have two under-13 squads with Gary Leeder joining Dynamos as their manager, and in this his first season he has 15 players to choose from. With new players joining all age groups and many returning to the club for their second spell, it is good to see a local club run totally on a voluntary basis go from strength to strength. As well as all the above new members, I also wish Kevin Oliver and Addie Walker all the success in their first year as managers of the under-15s and 16s respectively.

None of the above would be successful if it was not for the support of our parish council, allowing Dynamos the management of Blackhouse Lane, ensuring pitches are always made available for so many teams, and the excellent facilities which Dynamos hold a lease, for many years to come.

As Dynamos now control who should or should not hire the pitches on behalf of the council, this allows the ground to be well maintained and not abused and left in disarray and unplayable for children's football.
During the summer, Dynamos held a five-a-side competition at Delphi, helping a local men's team to raise funds for their new season, and also a sponsored walk.

 Soccer kits go to Romania.

Deaf teenagers in Bucharest will soon be kitted out to play football, thanks to AFC Cornard Dynamos and Sudbury Rotary Club.
Following an appeal in the Free Press by Dynamos' chairman Tony Ashby for a suitable home for football kit the club no longer needed, the Rotary Club was contacted by an organisation called Light to Europe.Supported by Frinton businessman Stan Platt, Light to Europe provides medical supplies and school equipment, among other things, to eastern European countries. Norman Ridge, from Great Waldingfield, acting on behalf of Light to Europe, contacted Sudbury mayor John Sayers, who is chairman of the club's international section The kit is now on its way to Romania.

22/09/04

At the latest committee meeting held at Blackhouse Lane on Monday 20th September it was decided that each team should be invited to have a representative that can attend a meeting on a regular basis and suggest ideas for the club that are from those that are the most important...the players.

Each representative would be able to speak to the committee on behalf of his team and suggest changes for improvement that the committee would then act upon. Some ideas might be hampered because of cost, but others could be actioned immediately.

AFC Cornard Dynamos exists for the members and we want you to be involved in the clubs plans for the future. Newsletters from each manager will be distributed soon giving more details.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Ipswich Town Football Club

As you know many of our members have had the benefit of attending Ipswich Town FC Academy and Development Centres. We have been invited by ITFC to provide teams that will play matches against them throughout the season. Teams from Under 8's, 9's, 10's 11's and 12's wil be involved.

We have strong links with Ipswich Town. Steve Greaves a EUFA 'A' International coach has been coaching boys each Wednesday for many years and. Tony Ashby and Jason Cade are both coaches with the Development Centre.

This is a great honour for our club and will allow our members to play against top class opposition. For that reason a link has been made with ITFC website on the menu page.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

15/09/04

As the start of the season for all our players took place last Sunday (12th) the Under 8's played and won their first ever league game 2-0. The kitchen again had queues all day for hot food, teas, coffees, sweets and  hot and cold drinks and no doubt will be the same this Sunday when we have eight games at home, the most that has ever been played at Blackhouse Lane.

An overflow car park at the Country Park, about 50 yards from the the clubhouse, is an alternative if you cannot find any space at Blackhouse Lane.

Another set of new 11-a-side goals have been delivered allowing us to operate both our full size pitches at the same time. AFC Cornard Dynamos has invested in Aluminium 'Harrod' goals, the same that are used in the Premiership, and are fully aware of goalmouth safety and the need to anchor our goals firmly into the ground.

Nine children have been killed in the UK by goals faling on them or breaking when they swing on the cross-bar.

Please enjoy your football but be vigilant around the children both in the car park and on the pitches. _________________________________________________________________________________

08/09/04

The start of the 2004-05 season is just around the corner and Dynamos are ready to welcome other footballers involved in the Colchester & District Youth Football League to Blackhouse Lane.

Throughout the summer work has carried on behind the scenes to prepare our clubhouse and pitches for our members and visitors and we hope you enjoy the great facilities this great club has to offer.

Car parking

With the car park being re constructed and resurfaced we no longer have the flooding that plagued Blackhouse Lane for the last twenty years. This major improvement is thanks to the Parish Council and their support of youth football in Great Cornard. We have spaces for over 120 cars and on match days Blackhouse Lane is always full so we ask you to park with consideration for other parents who might have a match later than yours.

Kitchen Facilities

The club has built a brand new kitchen and installed professional catering equipment ensuring that our bacon rolls and burgers are of the highest quality. We are supplied by a local butcher in Long Melford who makes his burgers by hand. cold drinks, sweets and other 'essentials' on match day are all available.

Pitches

Two 11 a side pitches are available. One has been 'rested' for over 12 months and during that time it has recovered to be one of the best surfaces for footbal anywhere in the league. Our floodlight pitch has also been nurtured throughout the sumer and has responded to proper care and attention providing another fine surface. This season we will alternate between both pitches giving them time to recover.

Our smaller pitches have been treated to the same high standard so our youngest teams enjoy the same benefits.

No adult matches are played at Blackhouse Lane. AFC Cornard Dynamos have been given the responsibility of managing the grounds and have been in partnership with Suffolk County Council to maintain the pitches to the highest standard.

We would ask you to keep away from the touchline both for the childrens safety and to allow other spectators to watch the games.

Changing Rooms

Repainted, better lighting and with new toilets and showers, our clubhouse is a clean bright safe facility for al our members and visitors. We operate a strict child protection policy within Dynamos. We will not tolerate bad language or behaviour at Blackhouse Lane. Please respect the suirroundings and facilities at our club.

3rd June 2004

AFC Cornard Dynamos take a break from the Nanny Jupp competition to watch Great Cornard parish council chairman Peter Beer cut the ribbon, held by James Scott to open the resurfaced Blackhouse Lane car park

Cornard parish council chairman Peter Beer officially opened the newly-resurfaced Blackhouse Lane car park on Saturday, with a little help from AFC Cornard Dynamos. Two of the club's longest-serving players, James Scott and Dominic Deane, who joined at under-8 and are now in the under-15s, held the ribbon for Mr Beer to cut.Work at the car park, which includes a new soakaway, an overflow into Black Brook, and an oil and petrol filter, cost around £40,000.
Members of the council also took a tour of the pavilion by the car park, which is leased by the Dynamos from the parish council. With the aid of local authority grants, plus fundraising and help from various sources, the pavilion has been completely renovated.

It now has four changing rooms, two sets of toilets and showers, a referee's changing room, a kitchen and a meeting room. A lot of the finishing work has been carried out by team managers and parents, and all the planned work should be completed in time for the start of the Colchester and District League season in September. Alongside this the club has carried out remedial work on the pitches, installed new bulbs in the floodlights, and will shortly be taking delivery of five-a-side goal nets.

The club, which runs teams from under-8s up, recently received a grant of £3,000 from Suffolk ACRE, which will provide away strips and training kit for all teams. Dynamos staged the annual Nanny Jupp competition on Saturday, a five-a-side competition where all age groups in the club come together, the teams being mixed up. The competition attracted more than 120 players, with some 40 games being played in front of a healthy crowd of parents and friends.

_______________________________________________________________________________________

Sunday 2nd May 2004

AFC Cornard Dynamo's have over the last 18 months been involved in improving the facilities at Blackhouse Lane. Over £20,000 has been invested in the Clubhouse Pavilion including new toilets, changing rooms and a brand new kitchen that has been a tremendous success. Over £32,000 has been spent on a brand new car park and huge improvements on pitch care with fertilization and grass care to make our pitches some of the best in the League.

We recently submitted an application for funds to Suffolk Acre, the Local Government Network Fund, and we have been awarded over £3000 to continue the work that all our members and visitors have enjoyed sine the refurbishment plan. In short we have been given government approval for the work that is taking place at our football club!!

The grant will be used to purchase 2 sets of new aluminium goals for our 7 a side teams, training equipment for all our age groups and brand new away kit for all our players. The new kit will consist of white shirts, black shorts and red socks.

Our floodlights have also been repaired and improved allowing matches to be played in the evening.

The work will continue throughout the summer with a canopy being constructed over the new paved area to allow spectators to remain dry during training and matches. Painters will begin work on the outside of the pavilion in the next few days to make our clubhouse bright and fresh and in keeping with our commitment to make AFC Cornard Dynamo's one of the finest Youth Football Clubs in the area.

5 FA Coaching Courses have been arranged during June 2004 for club managers and coaches so that our efforts to obtain the FA Charter before the start of next season remain on course.

Our Club 5 a side competition, the famous ' Nanny Jupp' takes place on Saturday 29th May 2004 together with the official opening of the new facilities by the Mayor of Cornard and other invited guests.

If you are interested in being part of this great club contact Chairman Tony Ashby or Vice Chairman Andy Millar.........Details on the contacts page of this web site.

Dynamos Power Ahead
30 April 2004
After a very successful month for Cornard Dynamos, it is great to report back that Dynamos under 9s, under the management of Richard Wingfield, finished second in their league and have also reached the league cup final which will be played on May 16 at Stanway Villa.

Their semi final against Clacton was a close game with William Wingfield scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory. Also it was great to hear that Daniel Smith has been accepted into the Ipswich Town development centre.
Jack Lavelle and Tom Wingield from the under 8s have also been accepted in the Ipswich Town development centre, which continues to strengthen our connection with our top professional football club in the area. Cornard Dynamos now have a total of nine players at either development or elite, with a further two going onto Academy level.
Dynamos under 12s also reached their first final in the Colchester Open Cup, beating Colchester Villa 1-0 in extra time, with a tremendous strike from Ollie Watson. They now go on to play Billericay in the final during May.
Away from football, it is good to see the completion of the car park at Blackhouse Lane, removing all the risks from flooding. With the club house now also finished, Dynamos' facilities have been used for league rep games and cup semi finals with very positive responses from everyone who has visited.
To add to all the other good news, Dynamos were also successful in achieving funds from Suffolk Acre.
Suffolk Acre deals with applications made available under the Local Network Fund.
Twenty-four applications were submitted and only 12 were funded, we received over £3,000 after listing the equipment that the funds were to be used for.
This was a very difficult application. The criteria is very strict and our association with disability football and our commitment to keep fees at a minimum and provide the best for local kids by introducing them to the values of sport. These funds now allow us to purchase two sets of aluminium mini-goals, new away shirts for each age group, training footballs, cones, spike posts, sac ladders etc.
My thanks must go out to Andy Millar who has worked to make this application successful and the local council for their support on repairing the car park.
As Dynamos look forward to next season, bringing in new players is as vital as much as keeping hold of all our existing squad members, so it is good to see so many players still training every Saturday at Blackhouse Lane. So if anyone wants to play, please come along and talk to any of the coaches, who will be more than happy to point you in the best direction. With the disability coaching restarting again in May, Dynamos continues to grow from strength to strength with local and national governments all recognising the efforts being made.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

Disabled Football

Disabled football coaching has proved a great success at AFC Cornard Dynamos. Each Saturday at 11.30am players from around the area come to Blackhouse Lane and join members of the club for a technical session and small sided game. Training will continue until the end of October 2003.

Friendships are being made between alll the players and the commitment and effort put into the training is admirable. It is proposed to have a full match against the club in the very near future and all the disabled players are looking forward to the event.
